The Student Government Association held their latest meeting Monday, March 25.
This week’s headliner in SGA was the approval of Amendment No. 8, put forth by Sen. Rex Jones. The amendment passed, though Sen. Jonathan Adams did move to alter the original amendment. With Adams’ alteration, the requirement handed down from Article 2, section 3 would be taken out of the SGA bylaws.
Article 2, section 3 states, “No SGA elections for SGA referenda shall come before the UL Lafayette student body unless said election or referenda is published before the election (those persons running for an SGA office and/or the exact referendum in total) in at least two (2) consecutive issues of the campus newspaper (not including the issue published the day of the election).”
The amendment to No. 8 did not make the floor for a vote.
President Chandler Harris also made announcements as to UL Lafayette’s contribution to the University of Louisiana System’s donation drive to help victims of the Alabama tornadoes. Harris said that as the biggest college in the UL System, she hopes to see UL Lafayette with a big turn out of donations.
SGA also approved all appropriations set before them in the meeting, in terms of old business.
These appropriations ranged from $108 to $800.
SGA will also be hosting a Candidate's Forum in Moody 103 at 5:30 p.m.
