Tension in Ukraine has just exceeded the warning level. With an official note that leaves little room for interpretation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has issued a peremptory warning: all foreign citizens must leave Kiev as soon as possible. But what is behind this sudden acceleration and what risks happening in the next few hours? The latest attack on elite drone pilots in Starobilsk precipitated the situation. For Moscow, this episode represents the point of no return. The military response, according to the Kremlin’s declarations, will be massive and aimed at hitting the beating heart of Ukrainian defense.

According to the announcement, the Russian armed forces are launching a heavy series of raids concentrated on the capital. There are two main declared objectives: the “decision centres” and command posts: the strategic places where political and military decisions are made; the infrastructures of the military-industrial complex: factories, depots and logistics hubs linked to defence.

The new escalation is linked by Moscow to the attack in Starobilsk, in the Luhansk region controlled by Russia. According to Russian authorities, the raid hit a student dormitory; Kiev rejects accusations of targeting civilians and says it hit a drone command unit. The circumstances of the attack are not independently verified.
