A woman has been rescued in Cali after being buried for 30 hours under the rubble of the earthquake in Colombia. Mayor Alejandro Eder had promised that every effort would be made to save the woman, who was trapped between the reinforced concrete and bricks of a collapsed structure. And his rescue was made known by the mayor himself.

“Thanks to God, and thanks to all the rescuers and volunteers, Diana was saved”, wrote the mayor on social media accompanying a video documenting the rescue. The draw, followed live on TV, was greeted by long applause from those present. The woman’s mother was also on site, who followed the rescue efforts with apprehension from the beginning.

The massacre
Meanwhile, the death toll from the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that hit Colombia with its epicenter in the Chocò department has risen to 240. There are also over a thousand injured. Over 5 thousand buildings collapsed following the earthquake. However, these are tragically provisional numbers, taking into account that around four thousand people are still missing.
The economic losses caused by the earthquake are estimated between 100 million dollars and one billion. The United States has already announced an initial aid allocation of 15.5 million dollars. But now the priority remains coordinating relief efforts.
