Prices do not go down: diesel remains above 2 euros per liter and for a full tank you need (on average) over 100 euros

Diesel still above two euros per liter and petrol just below. After yet another extension of the excise duty cut, fuel prices on Italian roads and motorways are almost stationary even today, 10 August. On the control front, however, comes a summary of the financial police’s activity in the last five months: twenty thousand tons of energy products seized and 265 people reported.

How much diesel and petrol cost today

According to what was announced by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, based on the latest data collected by the Observatory on fuel prices, the average price of fuel in self-service mode along the national road network is 1.985 euros per liter for petrol and 2.076 euros per liter for diesel. So calculating an average full tank of 50 litres, you need 99.25 euros for a petrol car and 103.80 for a diesel one. On the motorway network, however, the average self-service price is 2.056 euros per liter for petrol and 2.151 euros per liter for diesel.

Exactly last month – again according to official data from the ministry – the average price on the road network was 1.869 euros per liter for petrol and 1.968 for diesel.

Anti-smart checks

Meanwhile, in recent months the financial police has intensified, also in collaboration with the guarantor for price surveillance, its supervisory action in the fuel sector on a national scale. This led to approximately 4,800 interventions in total, 20 thousand tons of energy products seized, and 265 people reported. In terms of price transparency alone, 3,428 interventions were carried out against road distribution systems, with 2,279 violations reported. In particular, irregularities were found relating to the failure to display prices and the discrepancy between the values communicated and those actually charged.
