First queues and sold out petrol, "Eni effect" in petrol stations: the situation

Since dawn today, Eni has capped fuel prices at distributors located throughout the country, with motorists able to fill up with petrol at 1.99 euros per liter and diesel at 2.19 euros per litre, with an average reduction of around 17 cents. After Eni, the Azerbaijani energy company Socar, present in Italy through its subsidiary Italiana Petroli (IP), has also announced its intention to establish a cap on petrol and diesel prices.

The “sold out” distributor in Naples

From the point of view of turnout, there are no traffic jams or long queues, but there is a distributor who has already run out of stock. This is the case of the refueling station in via Cristoforo Colombo, in Naples, a few steps from the via Marina intersection, which delivered more than 2 thousand liters of petrol in approximately three and a half hours. “It was a continuous coming and going – the manager Maurizio Ferrara, who displayed the ‘sold out’ sign, told Ansa -. We have only seen such a flow during strikes”. Other queues are recorded at petrol stations located in more peripheral areas of the city.

First queues in Lombardy

In Lombardy, petrol prices are stuck at 1,990 euros per litre, while diesel fluctuates between 2,190 euros per liter for self-service and 2,400 euros for served diesel. Several motorists waited this morning to refuel, even if at the moment there are no particular problems at the petrol stations. At the IP petrol station in via Santa Rita da Cascia, in the Barona area, the price per liter of self-service petrol is 1.839, currently the lowest in all of Milan. First queues also at some distributors in the province of Brescia.

The situation in Rome

Price ceiling already applied in Rome too. Specifically, along Via Appia Nuova, in the stretch between Ciampino and the junction with the Grande Raccordo Anulare, and in the stretch of Via Tuscolana between the Cinecittà and Quadraro areas, the price of self-service diesel is set at 2.190 euros per liter and 1.990 euros per liter for petrol. The prices are also the same at the Eni petrol station in via Tagliamento, near viale Regina Margherita. In none of the cases was there a queue of vehicles to refuel between 7.45am and 9am.

Prices in Palermo

Reduced prices also in Palermo: 2.19 euros for diesel, 1.99 for petrol. In the “serviced” version the price for diesel is 2.40 euros and for petrol it is 2.20 euros. There are no long queues, but you notice 4 or 5 cars waiting at petrol stations in the central areas. IP distributors, on the other hand, maintain higher prices: in some areas the diesel served costs 2,559 per liter and petrol 2,379, while for self-service the price drops to 2,289 and 2,109 euros per litre, respectively. In other plants of the same brand, diesel costs 2.446 euros per liter and petrol costs 2.157 euros per litre.
