Arrives in Italy AI Questsan initiative created to promote AI literacy in schools. The goal is not only to teach new generations how to use this technology, but to provide them with inspiration so they can use it responsibly to generate a positive impact on the world.
Born in collaboration between Google Research and the Stanford Accelerator for Learning, AI Quests is a video game that invites children aged 11 to 14 to take on the role of Google researchers and apply artificial intelligence to the fields of climate, health and science. With AI Quests, students explore the fundamentals of AI and its applications through a series of immersive adventures. They will have the opportunity to experiment, make mistakes, reflect on their choices and make corrections, all under the guidance of Professor Skye, their mentor in the game.
The adventures take place in a fantasy world, but address real societal challenges. In the first mission, called River Fair and inspired by Google’s research on flood prediction, students discover how AI can help predict floods and provide timely warnings to communities.

Kids must collect relevant data sources, such as rainfall and river flow, evaluate their quality, and then train and test their model. Thus, they use what they have learned to help the game’s characters anticipate the next flood. Students learn how factors such as human judgment and data quality influence the outputs and impact of AI.

The second mission, Twilight Canyon, draws inspiration from research into diabetic retinopathy, a condition that can lead to blindness. A new mission called Studio Sbellicoso will be launched in the coming months, inspired by Google Connectomics’ research to map and understand the human brain.
At the end of each mission, students will receive a video message from the real researchers who developed the project, explaining how they are using AI responsibly to improve the lives of millions of people around the world. All missions are accessible at no cost and include teaching resources for teachers, with lesson plans and pre- and post-game activities.
AI Quests is open and accessible to all educators, organizations and families and is available for free at this website.
