Hard times for those who purchase one or more products on Amazon and, for various reasons, intends to return them: every consumer will certainly have to be much faster in returning the packages to the American multinational given that the terms on the return policies have changed and are practically halvefrom 30 to 14 days, sui tech products, i.e. multimedia and electronic ones. The note was released by the e-commerce giant within a forum of German sellers and distributed to various web portals dealing with technology.
The categories in question
“For items purchased on or after March 25, 2024, Amazon is reducing the return period for customers from 30 to 14 days, starting from the day of delivery of the product, in the following categories: Camera, Electronics, Office Supplies, Computers, Wireless , Video games, music and videos/DVDs”, reads the note on the forum in question. They are not part of this new return policy”Amazon devices and Amazon Renewed products” for which the free return up to 30 days. The multinational underlines that the new changes to the return periods will be displayed automatically on the product pages under the “details” heading where the new times will be indicated.
A month of tolerance
Consumers, therefore, are warned: until March 24th everything will remain unchanged according to current legislation (30 days for free returns) but from the following day there will only be two weeks. The same 14 day policy will also apply to third parties selling their products on Amazon. On the German forum where the news was launched, the American giant also underlines that to ensure a smooth transition, customers will be able to continue to request a return “via the online returns center between March 25, 2024 and April 25, 2024 with a 30-day returns window”. This discussion will definitively cease from 25 April 2024 when it will be impossible to request a free return after 14 days of delivery.
What changes for customers
A hard blow, therefore, for all customers who usually purchase a product and were used to calmly evaluating the possibility of returning it: an Amazon spokesperson confirmed to D-day the change in return policies has occurred”for certain electronic and multimedia products” stressing that they will continue to be offered”free and convenient returns on most products delivered in Italy”. And what happens if we intend to return a product after the 14 day period has expired? It will no longer be free but costs will apply as established by the multinational.
