Today Apple presented HomePod mini 2, available in new colors and with an even richer audio experience. Below is news, features and price.
Audio
HomePod mini is a compact device that reproduces immersive, 360° sound when used alone, when used with two for a stereo effect, or as part of a multiroom audio system. Thanks to the power of the Apple S10 chip and advanced computational audio, it analyzes music in real time to optimize dynamic range, loudness and acoustic performance. For the first time, the user can also create a four-speaker surround sound experience with Apple TV 4K (4th generation) and HomePod mini 2.
Together, the four devices and Apple TV 4K intelligently recognize the position of each speaker within the room, so timing and audio levels are automatically calibrated based on the space.
The new HomePod mini can also be used as a speaker for Mac, providing immersive sound for any type of content or action, from films to video games, up to audio and video FaceTime calls.
The Sound Glow function arrives
With the Sound Glow feature, the top of HomePod mini transforms into a sort of visual canvas, which lights up and pulses in sync with the music, reacting in real time to low and high-pitched sounds. The “Now Playing” album cover can create a unique light experience for each song. And the user can choose a soundscape, such as rain, to trigger custom animations.
Smart home
HomePod mini makes it easy to control your home automation accessories. Just your voice is enough to activate a series of smart actions in the home, such as locking the front door, closing the garage when you leave the house, lowering the shutters, adjusting the thermostat or turning off the lights when you go to sleep. With the Home app, the user can automate smart home accessories and create scenes to control multiple devices at once.
“Sound Recognition” makes HomePod mini hear and recognize alarms such as smoke or carbon monoxide detectors; if it detects one, it immediately sends a notification to the user’s iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch. Using the Home app, you can check what’s going on in your home via HomePod mini and listen or talk to someone inside to make sure everything is okay.
