Milan, 26 November 2024 – The program agreement between
Capri, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Courmayeur, Madonna di Campiglio and Porto
Cervo, destinations that since 2014 the Altagamma Foundation has identified as i
most iconic places in Italy naming them Territories of Excellence together with others.
Within 10 months the Association that brings together the places will be formally established
with a high tourist vocation identified by the Altagamma Foundation which since 1992
brings together the companies of the high Italian cultural and creative industry.
“We work together with and as Altagamma Territories aiming for excellence,
to represent the best of Italy and its hospitality. We’ve been there for a year
we are committed to this project, certainly not easy, but challenging: finding a
dialogue between territories with different but in fact similar experiences generates
contamination, opportunities, mutual stimuli”, he underlines Roberto Rota,
Mayor of Courmayeur.
Which he echoes, however Madonna di Campiglio, Giuseppe CorradiniCouncilor of
Municipality of Pinzolo: “This is not only a promotional project, but also a…
development for the territories; our goal is to develop the offer more and more in key
high-end, from system services (examples are mobility, urban quality,
etc…) to the business proposal. Signing an agreement gives us further strength
and commits us to the long term. We have clear and shared intentions and a
formalization determines a structure that can more effectively support the
future initiatives”.
Roberto Ragnedda, Mayor of the Municipality of Arzachenafor Porto Cervo:
“Arzachena and Porto Cervo embrace this project to strengthen their image
of the territorial excellences of the Bel Paese in the international tourism market.
We work alongside other destinations that share the same features with us
objectives to represent the high quality of Italian hospitality in the world.
We want to enhance and systematize the great opportunity it has given us
Altagamma Foundation by gathering in the “Territories of Excellence”: we will have one
additional tool to invest in the promotion of our identity heritage,
cultural and natural, as well as focusing on strategies aimed at development
sustainable tourism for the environment and the local community”.
Matteo Lunelli, President of Altagamma, declared: “Tourism is one
strategic development lever for the country and for Made in Italy. Some territories that
they tell and best represent the excellence of the Italian lifestyle
have become go-to destinations for high-profile travelers and since 2014
we wanted to enhance them by naming them Honorary Members of the Foundation. We are
pleased that five of them – Capri, Cortina d’Ampezzo, Courmayeur, Madonna di
Campiglio and Porto Cervo – have formally come together in a partnership that
empowers each member and facilitates the promotion of high-end tourism that
can have maximum impact in terms of direct and indirect spin-offs on ours
economy. The Territories of Excellence can be an example and a driving force for
an upward repositioning of tourism in our country”.
The Association’s primary objective is to develop effective methods of
development of high profile tourism at national and international level,
pursuing economies of scale in the context of promotional actions as far as possible
concerns tourist activities in the Territories of Excellence.
Among the main purposes, to increase the visibility and weight of the Territories in comparison
of national and international institutions, as well as private entities such as
non-governmental organizations, cultural foundations, promotion associations
tourism, in order to direct the country’s tourism policies to support
of excellence. But also the valorization and protection of heritage
landscape, artistic, artisanal, historical, commercial and social aspects of the Territories,
it will be a fundamental piece of the strategic path defined by the Associates.
The development and implementation of models is also considered a priority
management of the Territories to make tourism increasingly sustainable, which
today represents one of the fundamental targets of the European objectives of the Agenda
2030.
“We must think in terms of a system and not in terms of the sum of individuals
unity, with new approaches, new models aimed at improving living
collective not only of tourists, but also of the resident citizens of our municipalities”,
underlines Paolo Falco, Mayor of the Municipality of Capri.
“The Altagamma Territories – adds Gianluca Lorenzi, Mayor of the Municipality
of Cortina d’Ampezzo – face common challenges: the need to stretch the
seasons to make the territory live all year round; the search for qualified personnel;
mobility; the creation of increasingly accessible paths and experiences e
sustainable; the identification of mutual promotion activities; the conception of
traveling events that can be replicated in different locations to spread the virtuous circuit
of the most exclusive destinations in Italy”.
Synergistic actions will therefore be defined, in order to identify and share
strategic objectives and operational initiatives with the aim of coordinating the respective
activity. These include the exchange of information, experiences and best practices
among the Associates.
These initiatives will involve a clear identification of the timing of
completion of the same, continuous monitoring of progress
accomplished and checking the progress of the work.
Goal of 2025, a choral event of the Territories in the United States, as well as a
series of training and institutional activities.
