Cmf by Nothing today announced the Speaker Series, its first range of portable speakers, consisting of the S and M models. Features and prices below.
Design
Speaker S is the ideal companion for those who are always on the move, also designed for outdoor use. Its compact and vertical shape allows you to easily store it in your bag, attach it to a shoulder strap or hang it from a carabiner thanks to the integrated attachment.
Speaker M takes the same design in a larger format, designed to become the center of the audio experience in a room or on a desk.
Both models are available in White, Dark Grey, Orange and Turquoise, with interchangeable front panels and knobs. They also support custom designs in standardized, 3D printable formats, allowing users to make the product even more personal.
Audio
Speaker S features a custom-tuned 45mm full-range driver and two passive radiators, delivering up to 10W Rms of power across the 70Hz to 20kHz range. Speaker M instead adopts a dual driver architecture with a closed box, with a dedicated 25 W woofer and a 10 W tweeter, for a total power of 35 W Rms between 60 Hz and 20 kHz.
On both models, the Adaptive Tuning algorithm built into the hardware continuously analyzes playback and optimizes audio output and equalization in real time, keeping the sound balanced without having to open the app. Ultra Bass adds body to low frequencies in a controlled way, while Wide Soundstage expands the perception of the sound space even with a single speaker. For shared listening, two identical Speaker S or two Speaker M can be paired in Stereo Mode, creating a true stereo setup with left and right channels. Party Mode, based on Auracast, synchronizes playback on two or more compatible speakers, including some models from other brands.
Connectivity, controls and autonomy
Both speakers support Bluetooth 6.0, NFC tap-to-pair, Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair for quick one-touch pairing. The connection to two devices allows you to keep the speaker connected to two sources at the same time, switching from your smartphone to your laptop without having to repeat the pairing every time. Audio via USB-C also offers plug-and-play, low-latency digital playback for music, movies and gaming. With Auto Wake Up, when connected to an external power supply, the speaker can go into standby and automatically reactivate when an already paired device is reconnected.
As for the physical controls, a knob allows you to manage playback, track change, volume and Ultra Bass, while dedicated buttons allow you to control power, Bluetooth pairing and Auracast. Both models are IP68 certified for dust and water resistance, with immersion up to 1.5 meters deep for up to 30 minutes. They also offer up to 18 hours of playback at 50% volume with Ultra Bass active, while 10 minutes of charging provides up to an hour of listening time.
