Four people from the same family, including two children aged six and nine, were found dead in Gy, a small municipality in Haute-Saône, eastern France. The bodies were discovered on the evening of Wednesday 2 September, around 8pm, in a plot where there are some caravans and a mobile home.
The victims are a man, his two children and a woman who, according to initial information gathered by the local press, is the man’s mother-in-law. One of the bodies was found inside a van, while the other three were in the caravan.
Investigators are trying to reconstruct what happened. Second L’Est Républicainone of the hypotheses being examined is that of a murder-suicide: the father would have killed his family with a rifle before turning the weapon against himself. A reconstruction which, at the moment, has yet to be definitively confirmed by the investigators. According to an official source cited byAfpthe man was part of a separating couple who were building a house in the area.
An investigation has been opened to precisely reconstruct the dynamics and motive of the tragedy.
