The subject of our test today is the new A9 Max by Geekom, in the 2026 version. It is an advanced desktop PC with small dimensions and with very powerful latest generation hardware on board. An ideal desktop computer for those with limited desk space, great for study, work, gaming and AI applications.
Let’s discover all the features and performances of the new Geekom A9 Max 2026 mini PC.
Design, connections and packaging
The A9 Max retains the same design as the previous model, winner of various international awards. Reinforced metal PC, capable of resisting up to 200 kg without deforming, with plastic bottom and rubber feet. Excellent quality body, with rounded corners and compact dimensions of 135 x 132 x 46.9 mm. We also remember the side and rear ventilation grilles.
Let’s continue our analysis with complete connectivity. The front houses, in addition to the power button, the headphone input with 3.5 mm jack and 4 USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports (one always on). Too bad for the absence of a USB-C.
There is also an SD card slot on the left side and a Kensington connection on the opposite side.

Let’s move on to the back where we find 2 HDMI 2.1, the input for the compact 120W power supply, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, a USB 2.0 Type-A, a USB 4.0 Type-C Dd-Alt Mode / Pd in, a USB 4.0 Type-C Dd-Alt Mode and 2 Ethernet Rj45. Finally, we mention the wireless connectivity with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

We conclude with the package which includes an HDMI cable, a quick guide and a bracket for attaching the Vesa PC behind the monitor.
Technical characteristics

The technical innovations are very limited. The 2026 version differs from the previous model by the adoption of an updated version of the AMD Ryzen AI 9 Hx processor: the new 470 CPU replacing the 370 present on the 2025 model. The two processors are very similar: both use the same 4nm architecture, with 12 Cores and 24 Threads. On the new processor the maximum frequency has been increased, from 5.1 to 5.2 GHz, and the performance with AI applications has been increased, from 80 to 86 Tops.
Ryzen AI 9 Hx 470 and Hx 370 also feature the same integrated GPU, the AMD Radeon 890M (based on the Rdna 3.5 architecture, with 16 cores). Graphics performance is almost identical, as the Hx 470 offers only a slight increase in maximum frequency, up to 3.1 GHz compared to 2.9 GHz on the Hx 370. Integrated graphics card compatible with ray tracing, Fsr, Xess and AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.0.

The A9 Max 2026 is equipped with a new and efficient integrated cooling system, called IceBlast 3.0, with a large copper heatsink, double heat pipe and high-performance fan, clearly audible only when the PC is under stress.
We also remember the 32 GB of RAM (one slot occupied) Ddr5 5600MT/s, expandable up to 128GB and the 2TB Kingston M2 2280 PCIe Gen4 x4 Nvme SSD, replaceable with a drive of up to 4TB. We also find a slot for M.2 2230 PCIe 4 × 4 NVMe storage expansion, up to 4 TB.
Software, performance and price

We continue our review with the analysis of the software. The Geekom mini PC arrives with the Windows 11 Pro operating system fully configured, ready to use and free of unnecessary additional software (bloatware).
Let’s now deal with the performance analysis of the A9 Max. Our opinion is absolutely positive. In fact, it is one of the best mini PCs currently on the market. A device that can boast decidedly high performance, thanks to the powerful AMD processor, and with an excellent amount of memory.

Going into detail, it is an excellent PC for Office programs, web browsing, viewing streaming content and suitable for photo editing and 4K video editing that is not too demanding.
Furthermore, the A6 Max 2026 can be used with video games of all genres, at Full HD resolution and with a good frame rate, setting a high quality in older titles such as GTA V, Battlefield 4 and Fortnite and a medium/low quality in more recent games such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Screamer.
Furthermore, the power of 86 Tops of the AMD processor allows you to process complex generative artificial intelligence algorithms and linguistic models directly on the PC, eliminating the need to use external services and send data to the cloud.

Compared to the 2025 model, the new version boasts a slight increase in performance with a 7% faster CPU. Too bad for the single channel configuration of the RAM which penalizes the performance of the system.
Applications and Windows start up very quickly, with a fast SSD that reaches 6,161MB/s reading and 5,495 MB/s writing. Mini PC which recorded, in the Geekbench benchmark, a score of 2,848 points in single core and 10,880 in multi-core. The GPU, however, reached a score of 31,147 points.

Very positive opinion on the numerous connections available: we recall, in particular, the possibility of connecting the A9 Max to 4 monitors simultaneously (up to 240 Hz and 8K resolution) and the possibility of powering the mini PC also via USB-C.
We conclude our review with the 3-year warranty and the list price of 1,699 euros. Mini PC available on Amazon for 1,349 euros and on company website at 1,614 euros. Prices that can be reduced by 8% via the discount code ADA926F8 valid until November 1st and also for the 2025 model.
