Israel "fires" on the Flotilla and boards other boats: 27 Italians stopped, there is no further news of an M5S deputy

The Israeli armed forces have boarded other vessels of the Global sumud flotilla in international waters, the humanitarian expedition challenging Tel Aviv’s naval blockade on the Gaza Strip. “At the moment 27 compatriots have been arrested”, the Farnesina announced in a note.

Tajani: “Verify the authorities’ use of force”

“In the last few hours there have been further interceptions by Israel of the Flotilla boats traveling towards Gaza. At the moment 27 compatriots have been stopped. The boats should reach the port of Ashdod”. This is the terse note from the Farnesina which adds that Minister Antonio Tajani has asked to urgently verify the use of force by the Israeli authorities. According to what Italian activists reported, the Israeli armed forces would have used rubber bullets against the boats.

The boardings

From the tracker of the Global sumud flotilla it can be deduced that the boats intercepted today are: Akka (Andros), Beit Hanoun (Zefiro) and the Bayt Ummar (Elengi). From the live broadcast of the expedition broadcast on YouTube it would appear that only the Sirius and the Cape Blanco are still proceeding towards Gaza. Although in the last minutes the Capo Blanco was joined by an Israeli navy ship.

Among the new compatriots intercepted, after the boarding off the coast of Cyprus, there are Antonella Bundu, the former candidate of Toscana Rossa for the presidency of the Region, and Dario Salvetti, of the former Gkn. “We are less than 150 miles from Gaza”, they commented in the latest video posted on social media by Antonella Bundu.

The M5S group leaders in the Foreign Affairs Commissions of the Senate and Chamber, Alessandra Maiorino and Francesco Silvestri, in the meantime complain that they no longer have news of the deputy Dario Carotenuto. “We lost contact with our colleague when his vessel, the Turkish-flagged Kasr Sadabat (intercepted off the coast of Cyprus), was still more than 100 nautical miles from Gaza, therefore in international waters.” The Five Star Movement denounces: “When faced with an Italian parliamentarian illegally kidnapped and now kidnapped by a foreign state, the Italian government has the dignity to react with the utmost firmness and demand the immediate release of our colleague and all Italians in the hands of Israeli forces.”
