Ius sanguinis - the Newspaper

The news has been circulating for days. And since it is false, demonstrating how distorted the communication system is in the digital age, it has spread more than a true one. So let’s clarify it right away. Democratic Party Senator Cristina Tajani, contrary to what continues to bounce on social media – is NOT Antonio Tajani’s daughter. Even if many, perfidiously, would have liked it.

However: Antonio Tajani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, is originally from Ciociara, married since 1989 and has two children: a girl (who is called Flaminia, who is a psychologist) and a boy (who is called Filippo and works at the FIGC). While Cristina Tajani was born in 1978, from Bari, her father is a doctor and the only noble relationship is with a grandfather who at the time was the very powerful mayor of Terlizzi. In short, it is just a case of homonymy. Antonio Tajani and Cristina Tajani, although the center-right and the center-left are now almost joined, are not relatives.

The fault lies with Google, which, due to an artificial intelligence bug, associates the two surnames, suggesting a blood relationship (and has nothing to do with either the ius sanguinis or the ius soli) that in fact does not exist.

Although, in defense of those who fell for it, Antonio Tajani had just said that he has been fighting for civil rights for decades. So fake news for fake news, why not believe that Forza Italia’s turn on ius scholae was inspired by a daughter of the PD?
