New M5 processor
The MacBook Air 2026 uses the new Apple M5 processor with a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. The fanless design is, of course, retained. MacBook Air with M5 promises up to 4x faster performance for AI tasks than MacBook Air with M4, and up to 9.5x faster than the model with M1. The M5 chip also has faster unified memory with 153GBps of bandwidth, 28% more than the M4; feature that makes multitasking smoother and allows apps to open faster. Web browsing is up to 50% faster than laptops with an Intel Core Ultra X7 processor and, for more demanding tasks, performance is up to 2 times faster, according to Apple’s statements.
Memory
MacBook Air with M5 comes with 512GB of storage as standard, double that of the previous generation, and for the first time it can be configured with up to 4TB of storage. The new SSD also offers 2x faster write and read performance than the previous generation, significantly accelerating file access and speeding up workflows for users.
Display, battery life and connectivity
Nothing new for the 13.6″ or 15.3″ Liquid Retina display, with 500 nits of brightness and support for 1 billion colors. We also remember the battery life of up to 18 hours and the 12MP Center Stage camera. N1, the new wireless networking chip designed by Apple, supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 technologies, offering superior performance and reliability. Finally, the weight starts from just 1.23 kg.
Prices and availability
The new MacBook Air with M5 chip can already be pre-ordered. Deliveries will begin on Wednesday 11 March. MacBook Air 13″ with M5 is available starting from €1,249. MacBook Air 15″ with M5 can be purchased starting from €1,549. Both models are available in light blue, midnight, galaxy and silver.
