Malpensa, the first flight with a cargo drone takes off and lands


The Electric drone with vertical take-off and landing rises to the sky with his cargo of goods and takes them to their destination without any problems. An operation that marks the beginning of a revolution in logistics because last night at Milan Malpensa was First flight test successfully completed.
The drone Nimbus of Techno Sky, a company of the Enav group, is in fact departed from Cargo City of the airport managed by Sea with has a border light cargo load and reached the Logistics warehouse by Barbarini & Foglia, travelling 8 kilometers between there and back.

This test with a cargo drone was made possible thanks to the European project U-Elcome coordinated by Eurocontrol in the context of the consortium Sesar 3 Joint Undertakingco-financed by the European Union under the programme Cef-The Connecting Europe Facility in which Sea has the role of coordinator from the Sandbox of Milan, a controlled test environment, physical or virtualwhere after having started a dialogue with Enac it is possible experience challenging activities from a regulatory and technological point of view, for a limited period of time.

Test delivery of goods with drone at Malpensa

Goal of the project, experiment with innovative solutions for the transport of goods by drones and contribute to the development of U-space services, the set of services aimed at regulating theSafe and efficient access of drones to airspace. This innovative mode of transport aims to optimize delivery times of the goods, reduce CO2 emissions and promote the environmental sustainability.

Sea collaborates with numerous Italian partnersincluding Enav, D-flight, EuroUsc Italia, Telespazio, Techno Sky and Dronus in the planning and development of flight campaigns, and with Enac for regulatory insights and authorization aspects.

During next fall more are expected flights operated by Telespace with Dronus, and other operators within the Italian demonstration Cluster coordinated by Enav.
