Apple has announced the new Apple TV 4K, a streaming hub that is now more powerful and with new audio functions. Below is news, features and price.
Faster performance, smarter remote control
The A19 chip in the new Apple TV 4K delivers up to 50% faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the previous generation, for greater responsiveness, faster navigation and smoother animations. The A19 chip also includes a new dedicated Av1 decoder, which enables more efficient, high-quality streaming, using less bandwidth.
The new Siri Remote has the same design as always and is now also compatible with the Find My app with “Precise Location”; it also has an option that allows it to play a sound, to locate it more easily.
Home theater
For the first time, the user can also create a four-speaker surround sound setup with Apple TV 4K (4th generation) and HomePod mini 2. Together, the four speakers work with Apple TV 4K to recognize their mutual position within a room and automatically adjust the audio level and timing based on the environment. HomePod (2nd generation) can also be used in this four-speaker setup.
A powerful home hub
The new Apple TV 4K continues to be an efficient home hub that allows you to control home automation accessories wherever you are. If the user uses a compatible doorbell, notifications appear directly on the TV, so it is possible to see and speak to whoever is at the door, but also control other accessories without interrupting the vision. Furthermore, thanks to integrated Wi-Fi and Thread technologies, Apple TV 4K can connect to and manage the user’s smart home.
With Apple Fitness+, the living room becomes a gym, while Apple Arcade and the App Store transform it into a game room. Obviously there is no lack of compatibility with the most popular video and audio streaming services. Siri AI, however, is absent due to problems with the European Commission.
Availability and price
It is already possible to pre-order Apple TV 4K (fourth generation), with availability in stores starting from Friday 13 November.
