New MacBook Pro: the first with Oled, touch and Dynamic Island

The MacBook Pro now has a cutting-edge Oled display, an intuitive touch experience, lightning-fast performance and features thanks to the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, and up to 24 hours of battery life, all in a thinner and lighter design. Below are all the news and prices.

Oled touch display

The new MacBook Pro introduces the Proled Screen available in the usual 14″ and 16″ variants, with peak brightness of 2,000 nits for HDR and SDR, a 10,000,000:1 contrast, 120 Hz refresh rate, anti-reflection coating and an extremely wide color gamut, essential for photography or design workflows. For even greater visibility, the nanotexture glass option minimizes reflections and glare.

MacBook Pro integrates the touch experience for the first time, created specifically for Mac. The touch sensor is not overlaid but integrated directly into the display, thus reducing latency. The tasks are simple and intuitive: you can scroll a web page, pinch to zoom a photo, drag and drop slides from one presentation to another, and double tap on a window to see it full screen.

The touch experience also introduces completely new ways of working for the professional user. Graphic designers can now use the entire display as a canvas, no longer limited to the trackpad area for drawing; music makers can play software instruments directly on the screen; App developers can test the behavior of touch functions in their iOS and iPadOS apps directly on the MacBook Pro display.

Additionally, the redesigned hinge provides greater stability when using touch functions, while advanced video stabilization automatically smooths real-time camera images when you touch the screen during video calls.

Apple’s apps are optimized for the new MacBook Pro, and many of those already in use work immediately with the touch experience, because macOS automatically translates touches into clicks. And a wide range of third-party apps, essential for professional workers, will offer the user new ways to interact using the touch experience on the new MacBook Pro. Some of these apps are Canva, Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook for everyday productivity and collaboration, Adobe Lightroom and DaVinci Resolve for photo and video editing, Blender, Maxon Cinema 4D, Maxon ZBrush and Shapr3D for 3D modeling and animation, and Algoriddim djay Pro for music.

Finally, Dynamic Island arrives on Mac integrating real-time activities. Just like on iPhone, Dynamic Island offers a quick and intuitive way to see and interact with important information, so you can answer a call or skip to the next song with everything just a tap away. With real-time activities, the user can receive instant updates, accept an AirDrop request or pause the music they are listening to with a simple tap.

New thinner and lighter design

The new MacBook Pro is slightly thinner and much lighter. The 14″ MacBook Pro now weighs 1.38 kg, 227 grams less, and the 16″ MacBook Pro weighs just 1.82 kg, 317 grams less than the previous model.

Thanks to thinner bezels, the 16″ display now comes in at 16.3″, while the 14″ display has a 14.2″ design.

M5 Pro and M5 Max chips

The new MacBook Pro features the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, the most powerful Apple has ever designed for a professional laptop. Furthermore, a powerful Neural Accelerator integrated into each GPU core turbocharges AI workloads. Dynamic cache optimizes on-chip memory to significantly increase GPU utilization, boosting performance in apps like Blender and Unreal Engine, and in games.

Audio system

The six-speaker audio system has a new woofer that delivers 50% deeper bass and updated tweeters for a clearer result. For the first time, audio tuning specifically for use with the screen closed ensures quality sound even when MacBook Pro is connected to an external monitor.

Connectivity

The new MacBook Pro has three Thunderbolt 5 ports, an HDMI port, an SD card slot, a MagSafe port and a headphone jack. In addition to the Oled display, it supports up to three external monitors with the M5 Pro chip and up to four with the M5 Max chip. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 offer fast wireless connections, and Touch ID makes login fast, simple and secure. And thanks to fast charging, it only takes 30 minutes to reach 50% of the MacBook Pro’s charge. Furthermore, it is now configurable by choosing up to 16TB of storage.
