Two men and two women have been charged with murder following the death of a baby girl in a house in South Yorkshire, England. On August 30, police entered a flat in the Wincobank area of Sheffield after receiving reports regarding the safety of a newborn baby. There the officers found the body of a few-week-old baby girl.
The investigation
The scene of the tragedy is a house in Holywell Heights, on the outskirts of Sheffield. The police entered the apartment and found the body of a newborn baby. There were numerous stab wounds on the little girl’s body. The autopsy confirmed the investigators’ suspicions.
Authorities had initially arrested seven people aged between 15 and 38, but two women, aged 26 and 37, were released on bail. Those arrested, all accused of murder, are Andrea Skopova, 20 years old, Peter Horvath, 19 years old, Peter Horvath, 38 years old and Nina Horvathova, 37 years old. A 15-year-old girl, whose name cannot be revealed due to her minor age, was charged with obstruction of justice.
Neighbors said there was an intense coming and going in the apartment: “Sometimes there were people crowded together in that house. We even saw 10 or 12 people living and sleeping there,” one person reported.
Chief Inspector Tom Woodward said: “We recognize that this matter is deeply distressing for those who would have loved the chance to love this little girl, for the emergency services who attended and for the community who will inevitably be left shocked by this incident.” He then assured that the police will follow “every lead with determination and attention to ensure that justice is done for her”.
