Those who have joined the Scrappage-quinquies and have realized that the payment plan is too heavy are not necessarily forced to abandon the entire subsidized definition. The Revenue-Collection Agency has in fact made ContiTu available, the service that allows you to choose only some of the folders or notices admitted for scrapping and obtain new payment forms calculated on the debt that you actually decide to keep in the amnesty.
How ContiTu works
The mechanism is relatively simple. The taxpayer starts from the Communication of the sums due received after adhering to the Scrappage-quinquies and selects the bills or notices that he intends to continue paying in a facilitated manner. The system then recalculates the total amount and produces new pagoPA forms. The service can be used up to ten times, thus allowing you to further remodulate the plan if necessary.
However, it is not possible to freely choose how much to pay for a single installment or to pay only part of the instalment. ContiTu serves to exclude entire records or notices, not to obtain a further discount on the debt already admitted for scrapping.
The installments become lighter, but pay attention to the 100 euro limit
The recalculated amounts are distributed based on the number of installments indicated by the taxpayer in the original application. However, there is a limit: the law establishes that each installment cannot be less than 100 euros. If, after eliminating some folders, the original subdivision produced installments lower than this threshold, the actual number of installments is reduced.
In other words, ContiTu can lower the overall debt and therefore the amount to be paid, but does not allow the payment plan to be further extended.
What happens to excluded folders
However, the choice has a price. For debts eliminated through ContiTu, the benefits of Scrapping-quinquies are no longer granted. Those sums are then subject to normal collection procedures, with the restoration of the amounts ordinarily due and the possibility for the collection agent to continue with the activities required by law.
It is therefore advisable to carefully evaluate which bills to keep in the scrapping, because the exclusion is not equivalent to the cancellation of the debt: it only means giving up the facilitated definition for that position.
What happens if you have not paid the first instalment
The first installment of the Scrappage-quinquies plans expired on 31 July 2026. For those who have chosen payment in installments there is no traditional five-day tolerance foreseen for the intermediate installments of the Scrappage-quater. However, the quinquies introduces a more favorable rule on forfeiture: missing a single installment does not automatically cause the amnesty to be lost.
In the installment plan, the Scrappage-quinquies becomes ineffective in the event of failure or insufficient payment of two instalments, even if not consecutive, or of the last instalment. For those who continue to pay in installments, the next appointments for 2026 are set for September 30th and November 30th. From 2027 the deadlines become bimonthly: 31 January, 31 March, 31 May, 31 July, 30 September and 30 November, until the chosen plan is completed.
Where to find the notification of the sums due
The Communication of the sums due contains the outcome of the application, the amount admitted to Scrapping-quinquies, the calendar of installments and the pre-compiled payment forms. Anyone who has submitted the application through the reserved area can retrieve it directly from their profile on the Revenue Agency website. It is also possible to request a copy through the service available in the public area.
The communication initially contains the forms necessary for the first instalments; subsequent ones are made available before the eleventh installment expires.
