The toll from this anti-drug campaign by the US army rises to 192 deaths. Earlier in the week, Southcom announced, in two similar posts on X, the deaths of five men described as drug traffickers in attacks in the eastern Pacific. The legality of these attacks is under scrutiny: several legal experts argue that they are illegal extrajudicial executions carried out by the Pentagon with total impunity. The attacks were condemned by many human rights NGOs, including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International.
