A train derailed this afternoon, August 13, in the south of England. This was reported by the British Transport Police, without specifying whether there were any victims.
We can confirm we were called at 3.55pm to reports that a train had derailed just outside Lewes. We are working with other emergency services at the scene.

The accident
We know that the accident occurred near Lewes station (East Sussex) at 3.54pm local time. “Officers are currently on site. We are responding together with paramedics and the fire brigade and will provide further information as soon as possible,” the police said shortly afterwards on X.

The South Rail train was running between London Victoria and the coastal town of Eastbourne in southern England. Images relaunched by the media and on the social profiles of several of the people involved showed 5 of the 6 carriages of the convoy lying on their sides in a countryside area. According to the BBC, there were no victims or serious injuries.
Investigations into the causes of the accident are underway.
The place of the accident
Sussex is a historic county located in the south-east of England, directly overlooking the English Channel. It extends south of London. From an administrative point of view, the area is divided into two distinct counties, to which is added the autonomous city of Brighton, West Sussex and East Sussex which has Lewes as its capital.
