Having archived the almost conciliatory tones of the very first hour, when he acknowledged defeat in the midterms and congratulated the Democrats, Donald Trump goes back to being Donald Trump. The latest statements are a sequence of accusations. He talks about rigged elections and, faced with the stock market collapse, he takes it out on those who didn’t vote for him.
“Rigged elections”
“Our elections are so rigged, you have no idea,” the tycoon said while speaking to reporters in the Oval Office. Not a specific attack, but a generic attack on the corruption of the system. Words that demonstrate how little he digested the defeat.
Now Trump has a clear aim: to do everything he can by January 3, the date of the inauguration of the new Congress. Until then he still has “his” majority.
The tycoon’s priorities in this transition period are quite clear. First of all, guarantee funds for defense, a critical and urgent issue due to ongoing conflicts and the approaching legislative deadlines that cannot be postponed. Trump and the Pentagon are fighting for an unprecedented military spending of 1,500 billion dollars, a maxi maneuver that is facing opposition not only from Democrats but also from within the Grand Old Party.
The other issue at the top of the tycoon’s agenda is immigration. Trump intends to implement a strategy strongly focused on presidential powers and prerogatives to protect and promote his hard-line policies. His advisors are already devising alternative plans aimed at bypassing Congress entirely and consolidating its grip through decrees and executive orders. The same reasoning applies to duties and appointments, with particular attention to the Supreme Court.
Then, from January 3rd onwards, there will be a tug of war with the new majority. And the watchword is always the same: veto. He said it and he lets it be understood in every way. He will filibuster his opponents’ laws. And to reiterate the concept, he disseminates social media with clues that are not exactly veiled, such as the photos of the sorceress hat with the word “veto” written on every social network.

“The stock market crash is the voters’ fault”
And Trump is also targeting voters, obviously Democrats. He attributed the stock market crash to his rivals’ election victory. “The stock market crashed today because the Democrats had a big success on Tuesday. How sad, it’s all your fault!” Trump wrote on Truth.
Analysts have blamed the stock market crash on fears that Democrats could threaten the boom in investment in AI data centers, with the technology index Nasdaq recording its worst performance in percentage terms since April 2025.
“The Stock Market suffered one of the Worst Days in History based on the results of the Election. Such a sad thing to watch! It took so much work to get us to a level that no one has ever seen before, and then this. Your 401(k)s have, therefore, dropped. Remember, it wasn’t Republicans, it was Dumocrats…”
