Dear Franco,
The concern that I perceive from your words is understandable and is very widespread. I have seen many in the last seven or eight decades, we have gone through periods of serious crisis, terror and horror, but never like today does it seem to me that we have sunk into a spiral of hatred that sucks in the entire globe and all peoples. The Cold War has become hot, indeed boiling. We live under the constant threat and pressure of an increasingly probable nuclear conflict. The international community is grappling with the management of two major wars whose repercussions concern us very closely, one of which has been fought for over two years on European soil. Even the United States, a reference democracy, a model of the free world, appears to be in crisis. And this electoral campaign for the presidential elections next November demonstrates this. A very particular campaign, indeed, I would define it as atypical. And this for several reasons. First of all, the Democratic candidate, Joe Biden, is still in doubt, as he is losing the support of his supporters every day, who believe it is necessary for him to withdraw from the race, taking a step back for the good of the country, a step back that he is not willing to take, as he recently reiterated when he proclaimed himself the most suitable person to lead America. He will be dumped soon, you’ll see. However, it is underestimated that it would be difficult for the new potential candidate to build consensus and trust in such a short period of time between now and November to be able to beat the opponent, namely Trump, who is strong and even stronger after what happened in Pennsylvania, in that rally where the tycoon escaped death. Donald’s reaction to the gunshots he received accentuates the image of a resilient, strong man, capable of maintaining control of the situation, tenacious. He raises his fist and shouts: “I will never stop”. This a few seconds after being wounded and with a bloody face. A very effective scene, even emotional, captivating. So, on the one hand, we have a Democratic candidate who calls Zelensky “Putin” and his vice president “Trump”; on the other, we have a candidate who is shot and a moment later shouts: “They won’t stop me anyway.” There is no contest.
This man is destined to win and there is little that can be done to prevent it. The hatred unleashed and mounted against him by the left, increasingly weak and less credible at an international level, may give rise to attempts at sabotage, even assassination (and we have seen it), but it will not be able to undermine in any way the trust and love that Americans have for Donald. Indeed, the more they try to discredit him, to fight him with unfair means, to defame him (I am thinking for example of a prestigious American newspaper that a few days ago called him “unworthy”), the more Trump will widen his pool of consensus.
In my opinion, the American elections were already won last afternoon in Pennsylvania. And they were won by Donald Trump. He will be the next occupant of the White House.
And I must add: “Thank God.” Trump, or rather, his election currently represents the only concrete hope for us to avoid sliding inexorably into the third world conflict.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov recently told Russian TV: “The United States has deployed a variety of missiles of different ranges in Europe, which are traditionally aimed at our country. Accordingly, our country has designated European capitals as targets for our missiles.” Nuclear missiles, of course. This news may have gone unnoticed, no one wanted to emphasize it, but it is right that Western governments become fully aware of the fact that the level of tension is very high and that it is necessary to move from provocations to attempts at dialogue, for the good of humanity. Trump could do it. He has the clarity to do it. I truly believe in it. He would reverse the US approach to the war in Europe. Russia would stop feeling threatened. This would favor the opening of a channel of communication, that is, détente. To prevent the spread of the war, to counter alleged Russian expansionism and Putin’s alleged desire to attack us, we have come to the brink of a nuclear clash.
It’s time to come to our senses. It’s time to save ourselves.
As for the attacker, a twenty-year-old boy who was killed, I find it rather strange, in fact, that he was noticed and reported by those present at the rally but that his presence did not cause alarm and determine the intervention of the police forces.
police before the young man could fire. In short, we are not talking about a trained soldier but a boy, who was also able to carry out his plan, although not with the success he had hoped for.
