Watch Out for Those Three - Il Giornale

What happens in the damasked rooms of the palaces of politics? What do the deputies whisper to each other between one coffee and another? In Rome there are no secrets, especially at La Buvette. A weekly podcast to tell all the behind-the-scenes stories of politics. The agreements, the betrayals and the twists and turns of the leaders down to the smallest of parliamentarians ready to do anything to avoid losing their privilege, their seat. Power. Everyone plays their own game, but not everyone manages to win it. Very few will be saved, especially after the cut in seats. The favorite game? Getting rid of “the other”. Parliament is the new Squid Game.

Ready, set, go! The tenth legislature has just begun and, in the European hemicycle, there are new faces. Three in particular have attracted everyone’s attention: Ilaria Salis, Mimmo Lucano and Carola Rackete. Three companions, inseparable. Ready for the hard and pure battle – they say – even if at the moment the three seem affected by mutism. A bit like monkeys: “I don’t see, I don’t hear, I don’t speak”. They appear confused, lost. Disoriented.

The triptych balances each other well and seems to be aligned, not only on radical ideas, but also on clothing. Very – perhaps too – casual. But in this episode we want to analyze, with the help of Patrick Facciolo(communication expert) what they don’t tell us. And what is left unsaid could be more dangerous than what is said. Just thinking about it makes some tremble. But the three of them today seem unsuitable for the role they have been called to play. Could this really be the case?

“It’s too early to say. I’ll give you the example of Ilaria Salis, she’s currently rationing her statements because she’s in a study phase. She’s very careful about how she expresses herself and what she says. She’s letting those who are used to doing this do it, she’s delegating to others and it seems she’s relied on a communications team.”

What can you tell us after the first day of “school” in Strasbourg? You saw the photos of the trio, they went viral on the web…

“Journalists’ attention has focused a lot on outfits, which, in politics, often have to be reconciled with the search for consensus. The point is always this: when is my communicative action compatible with maximizing consensus?”

But what do they want to tell us in your opinion?

“In the case of Mimmo Lucano, for example, I get this message: “I am among the people and I dress as I would dress among my people”. Let us remember that Mimmo Lucano chose a light blue polo shirt to present himself at the European Parliament and this is absolutely in line. Even Rackete who chose to use a travel backpack is absolutely compatible with the image she has always given of herself”.

What should we expect?

“Do you know what they have told us so far? Well, let’s expect it to the nth degree…” *LISTEN TO THE PODCAST*
