After 48 hours of incessant research, the dramatic epilogue has arrived. The lifeless body of Noah Woods, the three-year-old boy who disappeared last Tuesday while he was in a playground with a relative, was found in a pond in Suffolk, England.
The alarm and the searches
The case has kept the entire United Kingdom in suspense, starting with the alarm raised by family members. At least 1,300 people took part in the search, even coming from places as far away as Birmingham and Hampshire, until Noah’s little body was located in the Decoy Pond in Brantham, Suffolk, not far from the place where he was lost.
The father’s pain
An immense pain for his parents, as confirmed to the BBC by his father Rhys Woods: “Noah was a very sweet child, who only had love to offer; we will miss him immensely. For us it was the most heartbreaking outcome: we only hoped that he had hidden in a clearly visible place, where someone could find him. That’s what we kept repeating to ourselves all the time.”
“It was a privilege to be your parents – wrote the man on social media – and to have been able to enclose so much love in the short three years spent with us”.
The investigations
Suffolk police have meanwhile stated that the death is not considered suspicious, but that officers still need to complete some investigations before sending the file to the coroner. Superintendent Tom Pearse thanked the family for their “patience and understanding during the search”.
