“We have come to an agreement.” Thus the spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, announces that Tehran and Muscat have reached an agreement on how the Strait of Hormuz will reopen. Despite the memorandum signed with the United States, the shipping channel has never been completely free. “Agreement on Geographical Features”
“We have come to an agreement on the geographical characteristics of the shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz,” Baghaei said. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also added that Tehran and Muscat are finalizing the joint document, provided that “some third parties do not interfere in the process.”
“The agreement between Iran and Oman, in itself, cannot guarantee the safety of ships passing through the Strait, as the factors destabilizing the Strait of Hormuz, in particular the US naval blockade and other aggressive and threatening actions against Iran and its interests, continue to exist,” Baghaei added.
“The closure of the Strait of Hormuz was caused by the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, and the resulting security consequences for the entire region,” he explained.
