Tragedy in Celano, in the province of L’Aquila, due to the disappearance of Germano Bacchetta, a 32-year-old professional who died in a dramatic accident that occurred in Miami where the young man worked in the real estate sector. The crash occurred Sunday afternoon in southwest Miami-Dade County, along Southwest 168th Street.
The accident
According to the reconstruction of the Local 10 broadcaster, the Porsche in which the victim was traveling together with another man – employed at a dealership – crashed violently into a pole, breaking in two due to the impact.
The roar caused by the accident was heard by many residents of the neighborhood who immediately rushed into the street. Bacchetta died instantly, while the other occupant was transported to Jackson North Medical Center in critical condition. The Traffic Homicide Unit of the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation to clarify the dynamics and verify whether high speed was one of the causes of the crash. It is unclear who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

The news has deeply affected the Celano community. “Unfortunately yesterday evening I received the news of the death of Germano Bacchetta, a young fellow citizen of ours who lost his life in a terrible road accident in Miami” Mayor Settimio Santilli wrote on social media offering condolences to the family. “Germano had moved to the United States, where he was realizing himself in his work environment in a brilliant, ambitious and exciting way. He was full of life and desire to do – we read in the mayor’s message -, but fate unfortunately interrupted his extraordinary and luminous path”.
