iPhone Duo: Apple's first foldable smartphone is thin, flexible and powerful

It was the most anticipated Apple keynote in years, and it didn’t disappoint. It was up to the new CEO, John Ternus, in office for just over a week, to bring the Cupertino giant into a new dimension, that of the foldable iPhone (with a long delay compared to the Asian competition). It’s called iPhone Duo, and it’s different than any other smartphone foldable available on the market.

iPhone Duo

Announced only at the end of the keynote (suspense was a must), Apple’s first foldable smartphone, iPhone Duo, is not like the “foldables that look like two smartphones placed on top of each other”, to put it in Ternus’ words. The foldable with the apple is very thin once opened and has the largest display ever made on an iPhone; consequently, the software is also completely rethought, optimized for a different format. The internal screen, effectively similar to that of an iPad mini, can also be used with the Apple Pencil.

Unlike the vast majority of foldable smartphones available on the market, Apple ensures minimal visibility of the central fold on the display, and an experience very close to that of traditional iPhone screens, thanks to Nanotexture technology, capable of reducing the surface’s tendency to scratch; Furthermore, the titanium layers under the display, in addition to greater protection, ensure greater screen tension. Also noteworthy is the rear photographic compartment, the main one, with two 48 megapixel sensors; the secondary 12 megapixel sensor on the external display guarantees excellent quality selfies.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max

The new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are equipped with faster processors, optimized battery life and super advanced cameras. Under the body, the A20 Pro chip makes its debut, capable of managing the most advanced artificial intelligence functions thanks to the Neural Engine, thanks to a declared power greater than 40% compared to the previous generation.

Substantial progress also comes on the camera front, equipped with a 48 megapixel main sensor with “variable aperture”. This is what brings the photographic sector of the iPhone increasingly closer to a modern digital camera. As we had already anticipated, the Dynamic Island does not disappear from the display, but occupies a significantly smaller space than in the past.

AirPods 5 and Apple Watch (Series 12 and Ultra 4)

Among the innovations presented also the new AirPods 5 without rubbers, capable of guaranteeing – according to the Cupertino giant – a sound quality up to 50% higher than that of the previous generation. Active noise cancellation has also been improved, with battery life of up to 5 hours on the active function device.

There are no major innovations on the design front, however, for the new generations of Apple Watch, the Series 12 and the more advanced Ultra 4: in fact identical to the previous generations from a visual point of view, they are equipped with new sensors in contact with the wrist capable of monitoring the heart rate more frequently. Substantial innovations also include the integration of Apple Intelligence and communication with the native Health and Fitness apps.
