Valentina Stragliotto, 27, lost her life in Sri Lanka after falling into the Ravana waterfall, in the Ella area. The Italian was in the Asian country on holiday and accompanying her was a friend who witnessed the tragic accident helplessly.
What we know
The waterfall, which develops on several levels, is located in an internal area of the country. The couple of friends had reached the attraction on September 24 as a stopover on their trip to Sri Lanka. It is not yet clear what happened. Stragliotto was on top of a boulder when, at a certain point, he lost his balance and fell disastrously from a height of 30 metres.
The young woman was rescued and transferred in very serious conditions to the Demodara hospital, a little further north. Unfortunately, her injuries were too deep: the 27-year-old died shortly after arriving.
Who he was
Valentina Stragliotto was originally from Bassano del Grappa, in the province of Vicenza. The 27-year-old had studied at Ipssar G. Maffioli before undertaking university studies in the United Kingdom. She had in fact moved to Bournemouth and then moved to Brighton for work.
