Two masked men entered a house and stabbed a father and his 15-year-old son, leaving them in critical condition. The attack occurred shortly after midnight on Thursday 8 October on Station Road, Thurnby, Leicestershire, England. The man’s wife was also injured, while three other children present in the house remained unharmed.
According to the police, the father, a man in his fifties, was hit with several stab wounds. The boy was also stabbed: both are still hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The mother, in her 40s, suffered minor injuries to a hand and shoulder and has been released from hospital.
“We heard screams and shots, it sounded like a horror scene”
A neighbor, interviewed by, recounts those moments Sky News. “It looked like a horror scene: we heard screams, screams and banging noises that woke us up,” he explained. “We saw two men running out of the house. It was dark, they disappeared.”
The neighbor then called the woman who was in the house: “She told us that her husband was dying and that her son was very seriously injured. Then we called the emergency number.” Ambulances and numerous police vehicles, including armed units, arrived at the scene. The two attackers, however, had already left before the officers arrived.
The police are looking for the attackers: motive still to be clarified
The investigation is entrusted to the East Midlands Special Operations Unit. Investigators are trying to reconstruct the dynamics and motive of the attack and to identify those responsible.
“This was a violent attack on a family in their home, which appears to have occurred without any provocation,” police said. An initial evaluation that will need to be in-depth.
The police have appealed to anyone who has seen or heard anything suspicious in the area. Officers are also looking for images recorded by surveillance cameras, video intercoms and dashcams of passing cars. A portal has been activated through which citizens can send information and videos.
“Anything you can provide, no matter how insignificant it may seem to you, could help us,” the authorities underline. “We owe it to the victims: to find those responsible and bring them to justice” concluded the investigators.
