A Learjet 60 private jet flying from Austin airport (Texas) to the Bahamas crashed in West Palm Beach, Florida, killing all nine people on board.
The dynamics
According to US media, the plane was flying at an altitude of 35,000 feet (about 10,660 meters) when the crew reported that they were experiencing turbulence, reporting ice formation on the structure of the aircraft.
The pilots therefore asked to be able to climb to 2,000 feet to escape the disturbance, but within a few seconds the situation was resolved. The plane began to fall to the ground, reaching descent rates between 10,000 and 30,000 feet per minute. The impact occurred at 12.50pm on Sunday 1 November, near an arterial road and not far from homes. The aircraft caught fire causing a large crater. According to what was declared by the governor of Florida Ron DeSantis, at the moment there are no deaths or injuries reported among the population on the ground.
