A new trattoria instead of the club that has shaken the world of Milan culture. In a few days, on January 30, the darsena trottoir will close, at the center of one of the spaces that, also thanks to that place, has literally reborn in recent years. The news is not new, the concession expired in 2022 and in 2023 a announcement was carried out to assign three years of three years for 12 years, including the one on two floors (plus an underground) of 335 meters Paintings in Piazza XXIV Maggio. And the Le Trotor Actionart association, who managed the place for 32 years, arrived last on eleven companies that participated in the announcement. To win it was the company Tabogoga Sas di Cesare Eugeno Dente, which will transform the place into a restaurant. The umpteenth of Milan, which perhaps would have needed the trotor more to continue existing.
The fact is that on January 30 the trottoir will pull down the shutters so as not to reopen more. At least not there. Thus ends the story three decades long and a piece of a place that over the years had turned into a kind of Milanese Café Flore, with a rich calendar of exhibitions, presentation of books, dialogues, concerts, DJ sets that animated the square and to attend which people came from all over the city. Among the most assiduous visitors of the club there was also the writer and journalist Andrea G. Pinketts, who had transformed him into a sort of personal public office and who had become so iconic of the trottoir that his funeral, at the end of 2018, after the His premature death from a tumor in the throat, had taken place in the basilica of Sant’Eustorgio, to a stone’s throw from there.
Now on the site of the restaurant we read a poignant farewell with the invitation to participate in the latest events, from 24 to 26 January: “The lights are about to go out – writes the owner Michelle Vasseur – but first to tell us goodbye and tell you thanks, in the style Vivo, volcanic, joyful of Le Trottoir, there will be a three -day non -stop music, performances, films, talk -of all the people who have alternated and have found refuge, listening, inspiration in the cafe, as in the times of the avant -garde In which ideas, loves, encounters and complicities were born in front of a glass of absinthe, a tea or in front of a pint of beer “. Vasseur complains once again the indifference of the municipality who, “despite the letters of protest of artists, teachers and intellectuals, has ignored both the role of redevelopment of the area played by the Trottoirs, and the epic history of a place that entered the film, Quadri and novels, both the void of sociality that will be created by further depleting the city “.
Unfortunately, the logic of public calls are ruthless. That of the Municipality of Milan for the assignment in concession of use of the former “located in Piazza XXIV Maggio n.1 side east”, which was carried out together with the other two similar structures in Piazza five days, provided for two categories score: 60 cents for the evaluation of the technical offer and 40 for the economic proposal up compared to a base of 44,987 euros. To win it was the SAS Taboga by Cesare Eugeno Dente (55 employees and a turnover of 4.3 million euros), already owner of the Osteria del Care in via Tortona, which excelled thanks to the highest technical offer score (52 ) given that its economic offer, equal to 97 thousand euros of annual fee, was lower than that of the three competitors who ranked behind it, the JDG (101 thousand), the Magenta Srl (100 thousand) and the Cafè G srl (100 thousand). Among the beaten competitors also the Rovagnati Retail, headed by the Salumificio di Biassono. The Le Trotor Actionar Association ended sadly last among the 11 companies that presented an offer, due to the low score attributed to the technical evaluation of the project (35) and an economic offer deemed insufficient (60 thousand).
In this way
The Directorate State and Heritage (Real Estate Heritage Area) of the Municipality of Milan seems to make a rather clear choice of field. The umpteenth trattoria “New with old effect” is better than concerts and exhibitions.
