These are perhaps the most difficult days for those who fight for peace, freedom and democracy Ukrainein Russiain Georgiain Moldova and everywhere in the world there is a daily battle to escape the ferocity of autocracies and dictatorships.
These are dark days because the governments of our West, who believe they can live indefinitely in the pusillanimous peace of half-promises, half-military aid, and the tiny financial support that are timidly given, have no faith in the explosive energy of values which are the foundation of the well-being and quality of life of our countries.
Thank you very much to those like you, Ukrainians raped in their homeland by the brutality of Putin’s fascismRussians forced into exile or into hiding, other friends from every country present here, you remind us every day, in the most difficult conditions, risking your own safety if not your life, that there is no power and no invincible power in the face of the feeling of human dignity and the fearless strength of the secular religion of freedom.
We will fight here, in Italy and in Europe because let the cowardly not prevail by nature, i collaborators hired men, the impotent souls who pretend to be chaste and call for surrender in the face of the violence of tyrants.
We will fight tirelessly so that the governments and parties of this West stop mirroring each other in their own weakness and indecision and assume the historical responsibility that millions of those killed in the fight for freedom and democracy have entrusted to them over the decades.
