After the crackdown with the stop on the sharing of accounts and passwords, in the wake of what Netflix had already done previously, Disney+ once again follows the path traced by one of its main competitors in the field of streaming entertainment distribution, increasing the price list for its subscribers.
After the Los Gatos giant, therefore, the video on demand streaming service managed by Disney Entertainment has also decided to introduce a new price list in relation to all subscription plans with the exception of the “Standard”, i.e. the one with advertising. The announcement was made last August, but in Italy the increases became effective starting from Thursday 17 October. As happened with Netflix, as was obvious, the numerous Disney+ customers turned up their noses at the new prices, complaining online and especially on the main social networks. But what actually changes?
As anticipated, for those who have signed up, no changes will be made to the plan “Standard” with advertisingthe cost of which remains set at 5.99 euros per month: the package offers the user video quality up to full HD 1080p and 5.1 audio quality. The playback provided in this plan is guaranteed for two devices. However, the situation begins to change for the “Standard without interruptions” and for the “Premium” plan.
The plan “Standard” without advertising increases up to 9.99 euros per month, thus increasing by one euro compared to the 8.99 per month that customers were charged before the changes. Which translates into an annual subscription that goes from 89.90 to 99.90 euros per year, or 10 euros more, for a plan that does not include advertising interruptions, video quality up to 1080p in full HD, audio quality up at 5.1, simultaneous playback for two different devices and the possibility of downloading up to 10 devices.
The package “Premium”also obviously without advertising interruptions, rises from 11.99 per month up to 13.99 euros per month.
The annual subscription to the top Disney+ service rises from 119.90 euros per year up to 139.90 euros per year, with an increase of 20 euros. The plan in this case provides for video quality up to 4K UHD and HDR, audio quality up to Dolby Atmos, simultaneous playback on 4 devices and finally download available for 10 devices.
