While the rest of the world can immediately test the option “Live Translation“With iOS 26, as confirmed by the same giant of Cupertino, the same will not be able to do those who are physically in the territory of the European Union and have an Apple account recorded in an EU country. But why?
After an initial silence, it was the same company that updated its site to clarify once for all the reasons for the unacceptability of the function renamed “Apple Intelligence: Live Translation with AirPods”. For customers who present both requirements previously illustrated, namely the residence and account in the EU, access to the option is completely blocked Due to the application of European regulations, specifically the GDPR and the ACT, which impose a narrow as regards the protection of privacy and consent/processing of the voice data acquired by the system.
It will therefore be shown in an impeccable way that the functions active during the simultaneous translation comply with the regulation, before being able to think about making available “live translation” also in the countries of the European Union. At the moment, however likely the parties are already at work to overcome this rock, there is still no official date. Until then customers residing in the EU will benefit from the other two features of the AirPods Pro 3, that is, the active cancellation of improved noise and the cardiac beat sensor.
THE’Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) It is now twice higher than the AirPods Pro 2 and four times higher in the comparison with the original model: with active function, the earphones guarantee autonomy up to 8 hours, a third more than the previous model.

As regards the live translation, the launch will be made available English (UK and USA), French, German, Brazilian and Spanish Portuguese. Italian, Japanese, Korean and simplified Chinese should arrive by the end of the year.
However, the timing with which the function can be unlocked for users with EU accounts remains uncertain: at the moment there are no official indications from Apple.
“Live Translation” will be compatible with AirPods Pro 3 but also with AirPods Pro 2 updated and AirPods 4 with ANC: it is sufficient that the earphones are combined with an iPhone equipped with iOS 26whose release is scheduled for September 15, and with Apple Intelligence active.
