From the 5 to 8 November, FederlegnoArredo will participate for the second consecutive year in Ecoworldthe annual international event held at Rimini Fair dedicated to green and circular economya meeting point between industries, stakeholders, policy makers, opinion leaders, the world of research and institutions and systematizes the key elements that define the development strategies of the European Union’s environmental policy.
Among the protagonists of the event, AssoimballaggiThat Wednesday 6 November organized the conference “Wood and cork packaging between tradition and innovation. From raw materials to recyclability and compostability”. The event will offer an in-depth analysis of the wood supply chain, from sustainable forest management at the recyclability and compostability of packaging. Central topics will be covered such as the LCA study on industrial packaging and foldable crates, the first of its kind in Europe, and the challenges posed by the new European Packaging Regulation (PPWR).
“Our sector generates a turnover of approximately 2.5 billion euros and employs over 17,000 people. Future challenges are linked to reduction of environmental and social impactsin line with market expectations. In this context, our sector can grow and further qualify itself by offering wooden products that they have a added value in terms of logistical sustainability. We must move in this direction, always keeping a careful eye on Europe”, he explains Andrea Attilio Gavapresident of Assoimballaggi of FederlegnoArredo, who will open the proceedings with a speech dedicated to the centrality of sustainability for the sector (here is the conference programme).
Wooden packaging is made with natural and renewable materialswhich they require less energy for production compared to other materials.
Wood can be recycled into furniture panelsthus guaranteeing a virtuous example of circular economy. Assoimballaggi is one of the first associations in Europe to have conducted an LCA study on industrial packaging, highly strategic packaging for Italian logistics.
