Taylor Momsen, an American actress and singer who became famous as a child in The Grinch and then for her role as Jenny Humphrey in Gossip Girl, ended up in hospital after being bitten by a poisonous spider during her stay in Mexico City. The artist was there to open the AC/DC concert with his band, The Pretty Reckless.
Momsen herself recounted the episode on social media, publishing a photo of her injured leg and explaining that she needed immediate medical attention. “Hospital today, show tomorrow,” he wrote, adding that poisonous spiders are “not a good thing” but that the show would still go on. A message that immediately alarmed fans, also due to the very direct tone used in describing the consequences of the bite.
The singer then thanked the doctors who assisted her in Mexico, calling them “extraordinary”, and said that the spider would have caused significant damage to her leg. “He took a piece of my flesh off,” he wrote, explaining that he had to receive an injection before he could face the concert.
Despite the scare and hospitalization, Taylor Momsen was discharged shortly after and regularly went on stage the following evening, respecting the commitment made to the Mexican public. Therefore, no postponement for the AC/DC tour, which continues as planned, with Pretty Reckless as the support band.
The episode quickly made the rounds on social media, both due to the artist’s popularity and the very raw story of what happened. Momsen, now 32 years old, has built a musical career parallel to her television career over the years, leaving behind the image of the young star of Gossip Girl to become the frontwoman of a rock band followed all over the world.
