The position of the popular in Europe is inflexible: never agreements with extremists. One of the most cited examples is that of Afdthe right-wing party that is gaining more and more consensus in Germany and that many on the left would like to oppose by law. The two parties exclude going to government together, but in fact I agree with everything. And the CDU line is winning in Saxony, considering that the polls put the party at 34 percent. Afd is not doing much worse, estimated at 31 percent. But that’s not all. As underlined by the Faz, the local collaboration between the two parties continues with force, remembering that not all those who vote for the right-wing party are neo-Nazis or racists, but are configured in the classic protest vote. What is happening in Thuringia is emblematic, to be precise in Tüttleben, where the Afd supports the CDU mayor, Klaud Lewald. “A good person”, according to the party leaders of the village of just over 750 souls.
In short, the difference in attitude between the EU and local governments is quite palpable. A reversal of the trend cannot be ruled out, especially in the event of a “soft turn” by Afd, still vehemently criticized for the language used, especially towards migrants. But one thing is certain: the CDU does not seem so reluctant to make deals…
