ChatGPT arrives on WhatsApp: here's what changes with the integration

ChatGPT also comes up WhatsAppand it does so with a tool that allows, this time also in Italy unlike what happened with Sora, to interact with the already famous chatbot based on OpenAI’s artificial intelligence.

The novelty, which is part of the advent calendar of announcements, was made public during the tenth day of the “12 days of OpenAI” series and differs depending on the user’s country. Through the number 1-800-242-8478 (1-800-CHATGPT) users of the Meta instant messaging app will be able to interact with the chatbot completely free of charge via messages: in the United States and Canada, however, there is also the possibility of making direct calls via the cellular network and communicate via voice.

To use the service it is not necessary to have an account OpenAI: it is in fact sufficient to enter the number provided by the company by adding it to your WhatsApp contacts, without doing the same in the phone book, or by framing the QR Code below to start the chat with the artificial intelligence. However, it will always be the user who first contacts the chatbot and starts the interaction by his/her own will, and never the other person.

From the beginning of the conversation you will be able to carry out a series of operations, including, for example, asking for information on various topics such as culture, news or hobbies, benefiting from a translation from or into a language other than your own, brainstorming and obtaining assistance in creative writing, create games and quizzes, or get advice on common topics like recipes or travel itineraries. It is possible to benefit from all this without having a ChatGPT accountwhich is instead necessary if you want to take advantage of more advanced features, such as the exchange and processing of images or personalization that allows the AI to remember preferences or instructions already provided by the user.

In order to use the service, it is important to underline the fact that there are limits in both the voice and text versions: it is possible to send a limited number of daily messages via WhatsApp, while audio conversations are totally free only up to 15 minutes per month.

However, users are notified in a timely manner via notifications when they begin to approach the set limits: if you want to go further, the company’s advice is to go directly to the official ChatGPT app.
