The owner of the “Constellation” disco bar in Crans-Montana, Jessica Moretti, could receive a daily allowance for the “loss of income caused by damage to health” following the tragic fire on New Year’s Eve.
Jessica Moretti’s request
41 people lost their lives in the fire that destroyed the place, including 6 very young Italians.
As required by Swiss law on accidents at work, the case is currently being examined by the Zurich insurance company. The latter, through a letter included in the judicial dossier, requested the authorization from the Canton of Valais prosecutor’s office to proceed with the possible payment, obtaining a favorable outcome.
“We are referring to the event of Mrs. Jessica Maric Moretti on January 1, 2026 – we read in the letter -. As part of the procedure underway at your office, we would need to know whether any daily allowances can be paid to the account indicated by the insured person or whether we have to pay them to you. In fact, according to what the insured person reported, her accounts are currently blocked and we are wondering to which recipient we will have to pay our possible benefits as soon as we have been able to make a decision regarding her case. We thank you in advance for your response and help. Do you need further information? Call us, we are happy to help you. Prosecutors Seppey and Roth replied: “In order to be able to examine your request, we kindly ask you to inform us of the type of daily allowance you wish to recognize to your insured and the related basis”.
The investigation into the massacre
The woman and her husband, Jacques Moretti, are the main suspects in the investigation into the massacre, which cost the lives of 41 people and left 115 injured. At the moment, Jessica is subjected to the precautionary measure of the obligation to sign with the obligation to stay at her home in Lens.
The husband has instead been in precautionary custody since August 11th on charges of mistreatment against him, and his detention was extended by the court until at least November 11th. In a report from the cantonal police, responsible for monitoring compliance with the restrictions, it is reported that the woman expressed “fears” in view of the end-of-year holidays and the anniversary of the fire.
