Dazn writes to the "pirates": "Give us 500 euros or we will take you to court"

Bad surprise for those who have been fined for piracy against streaming platforms such as Dazn and Sky. Dazn has in fact sent each of them a letter requesting the payment of 500 euros as a lump sum compensation for the damages. The affair dates back to last September, when the Lecce Financial Police, engaged in ananti-piracy operation, had identified over 2 thousand people.

The subjects in question had received a administrative sanction of 141 euros, but the matter did not end there. Dazn, in fact, had asked the judicial authority for the names of the sanctioned users, so as to be able to claim compensation from them for the damages suffered. The Prosecutor’s Office had given its consent, allowing the platform to access the list. Dazn wasted no time and sent users who had already been fined an official letter demanding compensation of 500 euros. In addition to payment, escrow is also required“not to carry out, in the future, further behavior that undermines the rights of the company”.

A hard fist, therefore, towards those who give in to piracy by illegally watching the Serie A matchesbut also Serie B and European Cups. The recipients of the letters now have seven days to reply to the letter.

“Before undertaking judicial initiatives of a compensatory and protective nature, with consequent increase in costs, Dazn intends to verify the possibility of settling the incident, with the payment of a lump sum compensation of 500 euros and with the formal commitment, on your part, not to carry out, in the future, further behavior that harms the rights of the undersigned”we read in letter.

And, again: “This availability will end seven days after receipt of this letter and, without further notice, Dazn will then be considered free to initiate appropriate legal initiatives”.

More than 2,500 users were sanctioned for piracy, and it seems that the same number are still in the process of being verify.
