The growing exposure of the country system to computer threats has made an indispensable evolution in parallel in the way in which the defense of digital domain is faced. The conference “Cybersecurity vs Cybercrime”, promoted by the Veneto Regional Command of the Guardia di Finanza, which was held on Tuesday 21 May in the institutional frame of Palazzo Corner Mocenigo, in Venice,
The initiative, strongly desired by the Army Corps General Riccardo Rapanotti, has compared some of the most authoritative voices in the academic, industrial and investigative fields on the issue of cybernetic safety, placing the emphasis on multidisciplinary approaches and intersectoral cooperation. As a demonstration of the growing commitment of the Guardia di Finanza in affirming the centrality of the contrast to the cybercrime as an essential frontier of the country’s economic-financial protection.
To inaugurate the works, Prof. Marco Bacini, university professor and director of the Master “Intelligence for national and international security” of the Lum University, with an intervention dedicated to the role of intelligence in the Cyber context. “We are called to a cultural leap: cyber intelligence is a strategic dimension of preventive reading of threats, an intelligence applied to digital security that must guide the operational choices of institutions and businesses,” said Bacini in his intervention.
The meeting was characterized by the level of contributions and for the clarity with which the new forms of digital crime have been outlined, now increasingly elusive, technologically advanced and often supported by statue or international networks. In this regard, Dr. Pietro Di Maria, General Manager of the Roman Society of Cyber Intelligence Meridian Group, presented a detailed overview of the TTPS (Tactics, Techniques and Procedures) used by hostile actors, also illustrating the use of CTI platforms as an operational tool to support the analysis.
The session continued with the intervention of Prof. Mauro Conti, professor of computer science at the University of Padua and president of the degree course in Cybersecurity, which provided a systemic reading on the evolution of the concept of IT security in relation to the rapid development of the AI systems, and Dr. Antonio Pisano, Chief Information Security Officer of the Leonardo group, which underlined the need to build a sustainable model Coming to protection of infrastructure and operational continuity in the complex contexts of business and industry.
The entire event was moderated with rigor and competence by the major Aurora Restivo, testifying to the organizational quality and intellectual depth of the day, made possible also thanks to the great coordination work of Col. Alessandro Maziotti and Ten. Col. Ivan Toluzzo.
During the conference, it emerged clearly how much the Cyberspazio garrison is today a question of national security, with implications that cross the technology to embrace economic, social and even geopolitical dynamics. “Forming new generations of analysts and operators capable of reading these connections is part of our responsibility as academics. Modern intelligence cannot be separated from the digital dimension, and the university world must be ready to accompany, not to pursue, this transformation”, added Prof. Bacini in closing.
The Veneto Regional Command of the Guardia di Finanza, through initiatives like this, confirmed that it is an advanced garrison not only in the repressive action against crime, but also in the promotion of culture and strategic awareness in
Cybernetic safety matter. A role that is perfectly welded with the mission of protection of economic freedoms, the integrity of the institutions and resilience of the country in the face of the challenges of the 21st century.
