A small meteorite has fallen in front of a house in Prince Edward Island, Canada. The crash was captured by the home’s security cameras. According to reports at CBC News by researcher Chris Herd, of the University of Alberta, this would be the first time that sound and images of such an event have been recorded. The video in question was published on social media by Colonel Chris Hadfield, a former Canadian astronaut.
According to reports from CBC News The owner of the house, Joe Velaidum, found strange dark debris on his driveway and lawn upon returning home. So, he decided to check the footage recorded by the surveillance cameras aimed at the entrance of the house. He found out what had happened. At the suggestion of a friend, he sent some samples to Chris Herd, curator of the meteorite collection at the University of Alberta, who confirmed the man’s suspicion. Analysis indicated that the samples came from ordinary chondrite, the most common type of space rock that hits Earth.
