Six people were shot dead in Muscatine, Iowa. After the bodies were found, the search for the attacker began. Shortly afterwards the officers identified him as Willis McFarland, who was found lifeless. This was reported by the local police, who explained how initial investigations indicate a family link between the attacker and the victims.

The authorities specified that the massacre had “a domestic connection”, without providing further details. Four of the victims were found with gunshot wounds in the same building, where they were pronounced dead. Two other people were found in two different locations, also deceased from gunshot wounds.

Police later located the suspect after he took his own life. Emergency personnel attempted to provide aid to him, but were unable to prevent his death.
