Here's how to manage cell phone files via your PC

Thanks to a new feature introduced by Microsoftelectronic devices equipped with Windows and those on which Android is installed will be able to interact with each other more conveniently and quickly. An apparently simple option but of fundamental importance, since it will allow users to manage the files saved on their Android smartphone directly through the Windows File Manager.

Using your personal computer it will therefore be possible to browse photos, videos or text files and also make changes to them, essentially following the line already traced by Apple regarding communication and interaction between all devices produced by the Cupertino giant.

This new feature has been spotted in devices running higher-end Android, such as the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. Once connected, the electronic device automatically appears on the sidebar of the File Manager, both in PCs equipped with Windows 10 and in those on which version 11 of the Microsoft operating system is already installed.

The new option allows you to create a connection between the two electronic devices without having to go through the Windows Phone Link application, as usual. For users interested in taking advantage of this function, it will be sufficient to install the most recent version of the app on the personal computer operating system “Cross Device Experience Host”. Once this step has been completed, the user will be able to operate on their mobile phone directly from the Windows File Manager, creating a connection with Bluetooth, via wireless or even via the local Wi-Fi network

With this functionality, therefore, Microsoft has met the needs of its customers, who for some time have been asking the company to be able to obtain a cross-device simpler and more practical than usual.

The company, which has always been reluctant to open up to other operating systems, has therefore decided to take a step back to respond to the needs of users, breaking down those barriers that it had raised to make its products more exclusive: the synergy with Android systems could constitute a combination capable of countering Apple also in the cross-device field, in which the Cupertino giant had been decidedly ahead for some time.
