Comfortable, light and colorful. But above all designed for the outdoor and with a battery that promises up to 10 days of use without recharging. Is the Huawei Watch Fit 4new born in the range of the Chinese house and officially launched today in Berlin. A smartwatch innovative that we were able to try in preview.
The design
Silicone quadder and silicone strap, since unboxing the feeling is to have a solid and elegant product on the hands. But it is when we wore it that we fully appreciated its design. With just 27 grams and a thickness of only 9.5mm, it is among the most smartwatches comfortable that we tried. The satin silver case with a shiny border, the large but discreet crown and the strap that adapts to any wrist complete everything. The result is a very versatile watch that, while maintaining a sporty soul, does not clash in more formal contexts. Not even in its “Purple” version that we had in testing and which is intended for a more fashionable audience.
Particularly affects his fitness: Despite the 46 mm dial, Fit 4 is not excessively large even for those who – like the writer – have a very small wrist. Indeed, unlike other models, it is not necessary to tighten the strap to the maximum to make it adhere well. Out of curiosity, we made him wear even to a two -year -old girl: even in this case the clock remains in his place.
Field test (and in the city)
In the two weeks of testing, the Watch Fit 4 behaved very well, both in daily functions and when we put it to the test during training. The AMOLED display is bright and with its 2000 Nits is legible in all conditions, even with the sun overflowing, while the automatic brightness functions means that it does not disturb in penumbra situations, nor while you sleep. The notifications are precise and punctual and nothing is lacking in that smartwatches have accustomed us: reception of calls, music control, alarm calendar, calendar, etc. Several health and wellness functions, including sleep monitoring and menstrual cycle, heart rate and saturation. Excellent battery life that in our test, with regular use, lasted about a week (compared to the 10 days declared, an excellent result).
But it is on the outdoor that this smartwatch gives its best. So what’s better than a bicycle in the Monferrato hills to test it? We downloaded the offline maps so as not to risk not having them in less covered areas, imported our path on the device and … Go! The clock entered the training mode and guided us along the chosen itinerary, notifying us when we decided to divert to take a road in the vineyards. The voice – in Italian – is Chiara and has reported us from time to time the level of “aerobic training stress” reached and the kilometers traveled, while the display returned the vital and path parameters in addition to the classic notifications. The phone can stay in the backpack: there is almost never a need to pull it out if not to take a photo on the panorama. At the end of the training, on the Huawei Health app we found all the details (the map of the route, the distance, the average speed, the calories burned, etc.) and the graphs that allowed us to analyze the performance and understand where to improve, as well as share them with friends and social networks.
What we liked (and what not)
The Huawei Watch Fit 4 is an excellent smartwatch: light and comfortable, it seems to have it on the wrist. The silicone strap is soft and does not cause irritation, the crown is discreet and does not bother when moving the wrist. Furthermore, despite not having the ECG (present only in the pro version) has all the functions that is expected from a device of its range with more than the Trusense technology that guarantees greater precision in measurements. And it is compatible with both Android and iOS devices.
The strap in the “purple” version could be a little short for the particularly large wrists, even if the fit remains comfortable.
