US Elections, Barack Obama Card Stands Out

There are less than four months left until US presidential election and yet the fate is all to be written. If on one side there is the certainty of Donald Trump, convinced that he can return to the White House despite trials and clockwork justice, on the other chaos reigns. Joe Biden is increasingly in the balance due to his health conditions: the televised confrontation with the tycoon was disastrous and on numerous public occasions he appeared rather confused. One gaffe after another, embarrassing situations that have set off alarm bells in the Democratic world, with even the hypothesis of a casting with Taylor Swift and Oprah. Biden, supported by his wife Jill, does not seem to intend to leave the competition, but more and more prominent personalities are calling for a step back. The direction? Always his, that of Barack Obama.

The former president is always at the forefront of the Democratic world and seems willing to do anything to push Biden to abandon the race for a second term. The polls that have circulated in recent days on possible alternatives to the 81-year-old are suspicious, and they have coincidentally rewarded his wife Michelle as the only representative capable of beating Trump, but not only that. In the last few hours, he has also entered the field George Clooneyvery close to Obama. In an article in the New York Times, the actor asked Biden to give way to another candidate: “I love Joe Biden. As a senator. As a vice president and as a president. I consider him a friend and I believe in him. I believe in his character. I believe in his morality. He has won many of the battles he has faced in the last four years. But the one battle he cannot win is the one against time. (…) It is devastating to say this, but the Joe Biden I saw three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe Biden of 2010. He was not even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all saw at the debate”.

As the party leader and winner of the primaries, Biden will have the final say, but it is unlikely that he will move forward if the entire Democratic world is calling for his head. The doubts that were once private are now public, just think of Nancy Pelosi’s chilling statement: “Should he run again? Let him decide and do it quickly,” was the version of the former speaker of the House. According to insiders, the next few days will be crucial: The NATO summit represents a fundamental crossroads. Updates will follow, but the president’s chair is increasingly shaky…
