Mojtaba Khamenei is disfigured after serious injuries to his face and leg: "But he is lucid, he participates in decisions"

Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Iranian supreme leader, is still recovering from the consequences of the Israeli raid on February 28th in which, among others, his father Ali Khamenei was killed, of whom he later assumed the role of Supreme Leader. But he is alert and present. According to what Reuters writes based on information from three different sources close to Khamenei’s inner circle, Mojtaba is disfigured after suffering serious injuries to his face and one or both legs.

Meetings and mental clarity

The sources cited, who requested anonymity, told Reuters that the 56-year-old supreme leader is recovering from his injuries and maintaining mental clarity. Khamenei attends meetings with senior officials via audio conferences and is involved in decision-making on important issues, including the war and negotiations with Washington, two of the sources added. Reuters adds that it was unable to independently verify the news.

Khamenei’s whereabouts, health and ability to govern remain largely a mystery to the public, as no photos, videos or audio recordings of him have been published since the airstrike and his subsequent appointment as his father’s successor on March 8.
