Elegant, clean, but above all professional. A versatile laptop, capable of meeting many needs. And capable of supporting generative artificial intelligence. We’re talking about Prestige 16 AI Evo B1Mthe laptop of MSI that we were able to test.
What strikes us right from the moment we take it out of the box is the quality of the materials: the pops in magnesium and aluminum also returns solidity and resistance to the touch, despite the thickness of only 18.95mm, the weight 1.5 kilos is consistent for a 16-inch laptop, the lid has the right resistance and opens without jerks.
The target is clear right from the no-frills design that characterizes it: it is a notebook dedicated to the business world, suitable for those who need great performance and a thin, solid and easily transportable product. And under the body hides a technology that does not disappoint: an Intel Core Ultra 7 155 H processor and an Intel AI Boost, an integrated NPU (Neural Processing Unit) capable of accelerating the calculation processes of artificial intelligence. Added to this is a one terabyte SSD disk and 16 GB of RAM.
The display, the keyboard, the touchpad
But it is the 16-inch OLED display that is one of the strong points of this laptop. With an almost non-existent frame, it has an aspect ratio of 16:10. This means that you have a much wider screen than the classic 16:9 we are now used to. It’s just a shame that it’s not a touchscreen. Not only that. A wider lid also means more space for your arms, which makes working much more comfortable. The keyboard is beautiful and very functional, large and backlit, with numeric keypad and physical keys that respond well and allow fluid writing right from the first use. The large and responsive touch pad is notable, with good sensitivity and ease of use.
The battery and the ports
Even though in the package we find a power supply with a USB-C socket which is decidedly compact, forgetting it was never a problem during our test. In fact, with a 99.9 WHr battery, we managed to get through the evening without ever having to recharge after a full day of work. The fans placed on the base mean that the Prestige 16 Evo AI B1m heats up a little, but never excessively. The laptop is equipped with Bluetooth v5.4, WiFi 7 and the classic ports including two DisplayPorts and an SD card reader. Only one USB 3.2 port. As regards security, there is no shortage of fingerprint reader which seemed practical and functional to us.
The final judgement
The recommended price for the Prestige 16 AI Evo B1 is around 1600 euros, but it can also be found on offer in stores for a few hundred euros less. A more than affordable price for a high-performance laptop. Above all because it integrates an Intel Arc graphics card designed for gaming (and therefore also suitable for graphics and CAD drawing programs) while maintaining a sober design.
All this makes it perfect for those who need a device with great performance also in view of the increasingly common use of artificial intelligence. The solidity of the materials, the lightness and the battery make it an excellent choice also for those who work on the move or who need to often transport their notebook.
